The Adventure Begins

01 Feb 2018

In 2018 we challenge your section to re-embed key elements of Scouting into your program. It’s time for us to rejuvenate the way Scouting is delivered and prepare for the implementation of our new program from 2019.

 What do Cubs Need?

Cub Scouts need a few bits and pieces to show that they are Cub Scouts as well as a few things to set them up for adventure!

These include:

A  Cub Scout Uniform (including a good shady hat)

A Dilly bag for sleepovers and camps

Water bottle

Cub Scout Record books are  used to keep a record of Cubs ongoing Award Achievements. The book is also an instruction tool for how to achieve the Awards. Record books are available from the Scout Outdoor Centre

There are a number of very informative and useful handbooks produced for each section of the Scout Movement also available from the Scout Outdoor Centre in the ’Scouting Publications’ section.

Of these, My Adventure Into Cub Scouts is a resource for new Cub Scouts.

For Scouts the Field Book for Australian Scouting is good reference for anybody who loves outdoor adventure and covers adventurous activities such as bush walking and hiking, abseiling, boating, flying, snow activities; preparation and equipment for outdoor adventure; navigation; knots; construction; outdoor emergencies, and weather and catering for the outdoors.

Other things that Cubs will need from time to time are things such as:
Raincoat
Comfortable backpack
Things for a sleep over
Things for a camping

All these things should be well labelled with the Cubs name and if we are going to a District or State event label them with the Group name as well for example:

Harry Bloggs: Stradbroke SG

Don't write 'Stradbroke Cubs' or it will cause confusion when the child goes up to the next section and items such as a good back pack should last them through their Scouting life.
